Rinvoq (upadacitinib) is already approved for the treatment of several autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease — and has also shown efficacy against alopecia areata in clinical studies.
Alopecia areata is an unpredictable autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the hair follicles. This can lead to patchy hair loss, but also complete loss of scalp hair or all body hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes.
